hi all!

so i've decided to start writing here again, maybe because i'm far away from people now and it's good to keep in touch, or maybe just because i really don't feel like doing my laundry right now.  life here is pretty awesome, and pretty crazy.  there's lots of fun and probably even more work : )  and waaaaaaay too much to actually write all of it out.  so...contemplating this work i'm gonna try to keep this pretty brief :

In the past month i have:

-Hiked up Bear Mountain

-Sung Bob Marley on a mountaintop with a bunch of Jewish hippies

-met my roommates

-been stalked by the Conservative Party, and the Yale Christian Fellowship

-chosen my classes (directed studies - literature, philosophy, and history/politics - and intro cog sci, for those who are wondering)

-spent over $400 on books...erp

-tried out for the debate team, joined it, and subsequently been held hostage for the past weekend judging for the highschool tournament

-met 3 people from alaska

-joined the JE Chamber Players

-joined the Independent Party (a sort of debate/social group open to people from all over the political spectrum)

-read more stuff by dead greek guys than i knew existed

-had my mind blown in cog sci, repeatedly

-watched what my cog sci professor described as "triangle pornography" in lecture to illustrate theory of mind

-seen uma thurman (who is extremely tall and skinny)

-discussed "bonking clones on the head" in philosophy section

-hung out with david (yay!)

-hung out with josh (yay!)

-stolen toilet paper with depressing frequency (my dorm for some reason never has any)

-written a paper on Herodotus

-discovered that Thucydides rocks my world

-discovered that Socrates was really obnoxious and honestly kinda sketchy...the whole pedophilia thing...yeah, what was up with that, man?

-assembled a bookcase

-wandered around lost...a lot

-gotten un-lost impressively quickly : )

-fallen in love with Sterling library...it's really cool

-discovered that i go to hogwarts, and my college is gryffindor

-not done a single load of laundry...i should get on that

so on that note, i'm gonna head out now, and contemplate odysseus and dirty clothes.

so i'm thinking i'm getting this dress for prom - questions/comments (negative or positive) definitely welcome:

http://www.bluefly.com/pages/products/detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=2026967331&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1215&N=945&Nao=18&Ns=Popularity%7c0%7c%7cProduct%2bCode%7c1&Nu=Product+ID

it also comes in black- i'm feeling the chocolate brown, i think, but i'm definitely open to suggestion.

k, i know i've posted it before, but...it's just appropriate for today:

Today

If ever there were a spring day so perfect,
so uplifted by a warm intermittent breeze

that it made you want to throw
open all the windows in the house

and unlatch the door to the canary's cage,
indeed, rip the little door from its jamb,

a day when the cool brick paths
and the garden bursting with peonies

seemed so etched in sunlight
that you felt like taking

a hammer to the glass paperweight
on the living room end table,

releasing the inhabitants
from their snow-covered cottage

so they could walk out,
holding hands and squinting

into this larger dome of blue and white,
well, today is just that kind of day.

so i haven't posted in forever, mostly because it's been a mad stressful busy crazy month, but i seem to have somehow ended up in a pretty nice place right now.

the round robin in dallas was awesome fun- saw old friends, met new people, there were amazing lectures, and just generally fun times.  if that was my farewell to high school debate...it was not a bad way to do it at all.  so...thanks debate, you've largely ruled my life these four years, but it's been fun times, i'll miss you.  best of luck in future debate generations : P

i didn't fail my calc test!!! i actually did semi - decent ish, on it, for like,.the first time the whole quarter (thank you soooooo much schmemmy for teaching me all that stuff def hij, any questions i got right are definitely because of your help : D ).  and i made up the english, and the french...so i'm caught up in school, which just made everything sooooo much less stressful.

senior musical was awesome awesome awesome tonight.  lots of fun.  and my hair is crazy when curly. and everyone totally rocked, which was good.  and no more damn rehearsal!!! THANK GOD!!!!!!!

and the big news is i got into yale and columbia today!!! and vassar this past weekend.  brown rejected me, which is actually a HUGE relief, because i would have been so conflicted with uncertainty over what to do, and doubts/regrets either way i'd chosen, and this way it was their choice and i have no power over it so i don't have to bear the responsibility.  i know it sounds weird, but i'm glad it happened this way. it's still a really difficult decision, but this way, i don't feel like it's an impossible decision.  but...april will still be insanity.  in an incredibly incredibly stupefyingly good way, but still insanity.  i got into 7 schools so far, and i'm still waiting to hear from stanford (they come out tomorrow at 6)... the plan was like...maybe 4.  oops.  well, i'm sure i'll be happy wherever.  but any yale/columbia/amherst/middlebury/vassar/nyu/williams people, if you guys want to send me comments/emails/ims or anything, that'd be awesome.  considering i've spent 2 hours walking around in blockbuster trying to pick what movie to watch...this decision is definitely going to require all the help i can get : )

anyway, english reading and then sleep sleep sleep. Best of luck to everyone still waiting for colleges, hope everything worked out awesomely for everyone who heard today/this week/whenever, and also everyone needs to send feel better vibes to Josh, cause he's all sick : (

...such a crazy crazy day.......

night all : )
